Job summary

Shypple in Rotterdam is looking for an experienced Back-end developer to simplify a complex logistics platform and scale it worldwide. The role focuses on Ruby on Rails, server-side logic, and high-performance services.

The position offers hybrid work options and relocation to the Netherlands if needed. You will join a dedicated squad of 4–5 engineers, own critical backend features, contribute to technical evolution, and collaborate with product and analytics to deliver reliable, scalable

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development, with Ruby on Rails preferred.
• Strong PostgreSQL/SQL skills, including complex queries and indexing.
• Solid testing discipline and end-to-end ownership.
• Good verbal and written English communication.
• Willingness to relocate to the Netherlands.
• Bonus: Kubernetes knowledge or pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain clean, efficient, scalable Ruby code.
• Own backend features end-to-end in Rails API from modeling to rollout.
• Own a core domain and drive its technical evolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy a high-performance app.
• Contribute to architecture decisions: scalability and performance.
• Analyze problems, spot edge cases, and design quality solutions.
• Raise engineering bar with code reviews and strong testing discipline.
