Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a QA Chapter Lead based in the Netherlands. This is a senior technical role blending hands-on engineering with setting quality standards across multiple squads.

You’ll embed in one squad while shaping QA strategy, automation, tooling, and testing practices across the broader engineering function. You’ll define acceptance criteria, own the DoD quality gate, lead a monthly QA Guild, and drive improvements to testing frameworks, coverage, and CI quality gates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software QA experience, including leadership.
• Strong automation engineering skills with production-quality test code.
• Deep API testing experience: REST, contract testing, integration.
• Proven ability to define and maintain QA standards in Agile teams.
• Experience embedding QA throughout the development lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of Java-based backend environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration to influence squads without direct authority.
• High technical ownership and attention to quality.

Responsibilities

• Embed within one squad and participate in sprint ceremonies.
• Define acceptance criteria with Product Owners for each sprint.
• Design, write, maintain, and improve automated test suites (unit, integration, e2e).
• Own the squad’s Definition of Done quality gate and ensure criteria are met before releases.
• Define and maintain QA standards across the engineering function.
• Lead a monthly QA Guild with the Chapter Lead to align standards.
• Evaluate and document QA frameworks and tools.
• Monitor QA health metrics and report risks.
• Partner with leadership to address cross-team quality issues.
• Promote proactive quality culture from the start of development.
