Job summary

g2 Recruitment seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead an energy-sector project in the Rotterdam region, Netherlands. You will oversee the full lifecycle—from planning through construction, equipment installation to commissioning—working on the client side alongside an EPC contractor.

The project is large, with multi-disciplinary teams and a value above €50m. Hybrid work is available (2–3 days in office, 2–3 days remote) with a 40-hour week on a 24+ month contract; freelance and permanent options

Qualifications

• 10+ years in project management or PMO within construction/energy.
• Client-side experience, ideally owner-operator; EPC familiarity acceptable.
• Technical engineering background in civil/mechanical/electrical.

G2 are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager to work on an opportunity within the energy sector in The Rotterdam Region, Netherlands. This role will involve managing the entirety of the project from planning for execution, construction, equipment installation through to commissioning, you will be working for the client.

The client will be working with an EPC contractor for the build; they will be covering the complete EPC, you will be working as the client side senior project manager and will be involved guiding the EPC company.

The project is expected to run for 24 months+, initial work will be preparing a construction management plan, civil site preparations, with full-scale construction kicking off this quarter.

START: October or November – 2026 (Immediate start is available)

WORK PATTERN: 2-3 days per week in the office or onsite + 2-3 days remote working (week dependent)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

CONTRACT: 24+ month contract

FREELANCE: ZZP or BV solution (Good market rates)

PERMANENT: Employed solution also available on a long term basis

Specification:

• Minimum 10+ years experience as a project manager, project construction manager or technical PMO manager
• Client side working history, ideally owner operator, but construction experience is essential – EPC contractor background is also feasible for the opportunity
• Technical engineering background – civil, mechanical or electrical considered
• Knowledge or working history on energy projects is very beneficial, not essential
• Understanding of projects planning, cost and risk analysis and reporting
• Experience with multidisciplined construction projects, managing EPC contractors
• Dutch speaking is beneficial, not essential (international client)
• Ideally you will have worked on projects over € 50m value

The client will be developing a new energy plant, this will be developed on a mix of greenfield and brownfield land, knowledge of either greenfield or brownfield projects is very beneficial.
