Job summary

JD Sports Fashion plc in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Payroll Executive / Team Lead to own end-to-end payroll operations for 1,300 colleagues across 34 stores. You will oversee delivery, resolve complex queries, and coach payroll associates, ensuring accurate, timely payroll with full Dutch regulatory compliance.

You will lead onboarding of new team members, manage planning tools, and collaborate with People Operations and Finance to maintain smooth payroll processes in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Must have strong knowledge of Dutch payroll, tax legislation, and pension regulations.
• Experience owning Dutch payroll operations end to end, not just execution.
• Experience supervising, coaching or mentoring colleagues.
• Experience onboarding payroll teams and knowledge transfer.
• Experience with MANUS or similar time & attendance systems a plus.
• Experience with Workday or Dayforce a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and analytical mindset.
• High attention to detail with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
• Team player who can also work independently and take ownership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accurate and timely payroll for 1,300 colleagues across 34 stores.
• Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries, discrepancies, and blockers.
• Own payroll delivery outcomes and ensure continuity amid changing priorities.
• Supervise, coach, and train payroll associates on processes and inquiries.
• Own end-to-end onboarding of new payroll team members, including planning and buddying.
• Identify operational risks and propose mitigation plans in advance.
• Coordinate payroll planning tools, ensuring clear ownership and priorities.
• Measure performance and drive process improvements with management support.
• Ensure compliance with Dutch tax, labour, and pension regulations.
• Prepare monthly payroll reports for senior management and Finance.
• Respond to payroll inquiries in a timely, structured manner.
• Support Finance during payroll audits with required data and explanations.
• Manage AFAS and MANUS to stay up to date and compliant.
• Collaborate with managers and other departments for smooth operations.
• Act as a senior role model with ownership and proactive communication.
