Job summary

Sioux, headquartered in the Brainport region near Eindhoven, is seeking a Senior Optical Designer to guide product creation from concept to industrialization for high-tech equipment. You will contribute to systems for wafer steppers, electron microscopes, and related applications from our Eindhoven office, with occasional client-site assignments.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams to translate ideas into robust optical designs, while mentoring colleagues and driving calibration,

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in physics or a closely related field.
• 5+ years' experience designing and industrializing optical systems for high-tech industries.
• System-level mindset with ability to switch between high-level and detailed analysis.
• Experience with system integration of optical subsystems including opto-mechanics, tolerance analysis, metrology, and calibration.
• Strong understanding of optical measurement techniques, including holography and ptychography.
• Excellent modelling, experimental and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Good communication with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers.

• Be involved throughout the product creation process: from ideation and feasibility through to robust designs and verification testing.
• Work in multidisciplinary teams with system architects, computational physicists, image processing mathematicians, and others.

Job description

As a Senior Optical Designer you guide the entire product creation process from concept phase to industrialization for high-tech products and machines.

In this role, you support our customers in developing high-tech systems, where electron and x-ray physics, contamination, ultra high vacuum and thermal design play an important part. You will work for customers in the semiconductor, analytical, and medical equipment industry, within the Brainport region and beyond. Your optical expertise plays a guiding role in bringing high-tech solutions to life, like wafer steppers and electron microscopes.

• Guiding colleagues from other disciplines to further develop and realize your design, while also mentoring junior engineers in their projects and supporting the growth of their (technical) talents.

This is what you bring to the table

• Master's or PhD diploma in physics or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of experience in the design, realization, verification and industrialization of optical systems for the high-tech industry, including lens and illumination design as well as imaging / machine vision applications.
• A system-level mindset, with the ability to switch effectively between high-level system thinking and detailed technical analysis, combined with a strong sense of priorities.
• Experience with the system integration aspects of optical (sub-)systems including opto-mechanics, tolerance analysis, metrology, and calibration.
• A strong physical understanding of a broad range of optical measurement techniques, including computational methods such as holography and ptychography.
• Excellent modelling, experimental and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills, both with internal stakeholders but also towards customers and suppliers.
