Job summary

Van Storm multis discipline shipbuilding engineering consultancy seeks a Senior Naval Architect to lead design calculations and review activities for complex naval and offshore vessels.

You will mentor junior engineers, oversee stability, weight, propulsion, and motion analyses, and ensure integrated designs across disciplines while communicating with clients and classification societies.

Qualifications

• MSc. in Naval Architecture is required.
• 5+ years of experience as a Naval Architect developing complex vessels with offshore missions.
• Excellent knowledge of theoretical naval architecture calculations.
• Willingness to guide and mentor junior engineers.
• Excellent communication skills and fluent English; Dutch learning is appreciated.
• EU citizenship is required due to military project exposure.

Responsibilities

• Perform naval architecture calculations including stability, weight, hydrostatics, manoeuvrability.
• Create and check structural and scantling calculations by colleagues.
• Mentor and coordinate junior naval architects within the team.
• Collaborate with systems, mechanical and structural disciplines for integrated design.
• Communicate with clients and classification societies to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Write specifications for the yard and assist during construction phase.
