Job summary

Bennetboss is seeking a Senior Naval Architect to lead the concept and basic design for leading maritime projects, translating complex requirements into constructible, safe designs.

You will mentor junior naval architects, collaborate across disciplines, and provide high-level technical guidance to global clients, including defence organisations, while working with a team of 18 naval architects.

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc in Naval Architecture, Marine Technology or Shipbuilding.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in maritime or offshore engineering.
• Strong skills in stability, hydrodynamics and wave mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept and basic design for maritime projects.

Profile Senior Naval Architect

Are you a Senior Naval Architect looking for the ultimate technical challenge in the maritime and naval sector?

Whether it is the design of a next-generation submarine, a major FPSO conversion, or complex system integration, you will work on projects that shape maritime history. Here, you will tackle engineering puzzles that push the boundaries of modern naval architecture.

What will you do as a Senior Naval Architect?
In this role, you will hold ultimate responsibility for the concept and basic design of leading maritime projects. You translate complex technical requirements into smart, constructible designs.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Executing complex calculations regarding stability, resistance, propulsion, weight management, and motion analysis.
• Providing high-level technical advice to global clients, including national and international defence organisations.
• Mentoring junior Naval Architects in their professional development and securing specialist knowledge within the team.
• Collaborating multi-disciplinarily and, depending on the project, leading a small naval team of 2 to 4 engineers.

Your Profile

You thrive in a collaborative environment alongside a team of 18 driven naval architects, yet you display the independence and decision-making confidence required of a senior specialist.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BSc/MSc) in Naval Architecture, Marine Technology, or Shipbuilding.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the maritime or offshore engineering domain.
• Deep expertise in stability calculations, hydrodynamics, and wave mechanics.
• Experience with specialised software such as NAPA, Hydrostar, Ansys Aqwa, Python, or MATLAB is highly preferred.
• Full professional proficiency in Dutch and English
