Job description

Are you ready to take a key leadership role in a fast-growing, publicly listed tech innovator? Our partner is a global leader in MEMS-based timing technology and is expanding their R&D organization in the Netherlands. To support this growth, we are seeking a MEMS Engineering Manager to help scale the team, strengthen technical leadership, and drive next-generation MEMS development.

As MEMS Engineering Manager, you will join an international R&D organisation of ~20 engineers (7 in the Netherlands), expected to grow to 30+ within the next year. You’ll report directly to the local site lead and initially manage a small group (1–2 direct reports), scaling to 5+ as the team expands.

Your role blends technical leadership, people development, and hands-on MEMS expertise. You will contribute to resonator-based MEMS development for high-performance timing solutions and guide multiple active programs while shaping the longer-term technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing MEMS development team.
  • Provide both strategic guidance and hands-on technical contributions in MEMS design, experiments, and characterization.
  • Quickly evaluate technical proposals and align development efforts with organisational priorities.
  • Drive the development of new MEMS technologies and enhance existing device performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (circuits, systems, packaging) across global R&D sites.
  • Engage with external partners and foundries (approx. 10% of the role).
  • Foster a culture of openness, authenticity, and continuous learning.
What You Bring
Must-have technical background:
  • Strong expertise in MEMS. Ideally resonator-based timing solutions (gyroscopes, accelerometers, mass/airflow sensors also relevant).
  • PhD in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related.
  • A Master’s degree with 4+ additional years of strong relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience leading engineering projects and small teams.
  • Hands-on background in MEMS design, lab work, experiment design, and preferably RF measurements.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and build scalable engineering processes.
Soft skills and mindset:
  • Clear, transparent communication;
  • Growth mindset, resilience, and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Passion for solving complex technical challenges in a rapidly growing environment.
