Job summary

GBM Works in Amsterdam North is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design from prototype to commercial deployment. You will lead mechanical development in a multidisciplinary team, mentor engineers, and represent GBM Works to clients and partners.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, and a hands-on, autonomous approach within offshore wind projects.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years in mechanical engineering with senior ownership of projects.
• Hands-on development of offshore or heavy marine equipment.
• Experience mentoring engineers on complex projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills.
• Full-time availability.

Responsibilities

• Identify mechanical requirements from prototype through to commercial-scale.
• Act as senior technical contact with end-users and partner manufacturers.
• Lead mechanical development in collaboration with geotechnical and operations disciplines and external partners.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other mechanical engineers, reviewing designs for robustness.
• Use risk-based design to safeguard robustness and reliability.
• Contribute to long-term mechanical engineering strategy and roadmap.
