Job summary

Heerema Marine Contractors is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Leiden to design offshore equipment from concept to fabrication and offshore execution. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor newer engineers while contributing to a learning organization. Visa sponsorship is not provided.

You will deliver safe, manufacturable designs, work with subcontractors, and support commissioning on vessels, strengthening your leadership in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in designing tooling and equipment.
• Experience in a fabrication environment with manufacturability focus.
• Advanced knowledge of structural and mechanical engineering.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Willingness to work temporarily at fabricators, yards, offshore.
• Team player who collaborates across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop bespoke offshore equipment for the global fleet, using Inventor; include FEM analyses, 3D design and fabrication drawings as needed.
• Prepare structural calculations, design reports, component justifications, test protocols and user manuals.
• Coordinate with external subcontractors to realize equipment; visit fabricators for inspections and testing.
• Support commissioning onboard vessels and act as technical liaison for crew.
