Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Amsterdam to lead the design and delivery of HVAC, drainage, water systems, and related mechanical services for diverse projects. You will mentor graduates and guide apprentices while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.

You will collaborate with clients to shape design ambitions, coordinate with stakeholders, and participate in design reviews and site visits to gain exposure across Europe.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or relevant technical diploma required.
• 8+ years of experience in designing and delivering mechanical services.
• Know Dutch codes and planning phases.
• Ability to lead design from concept to construction.
• Strong sustainability knowledge and practical application.
• Proficient in MS Office, CAD/BIM tools.
• Willingness to travel within Europe.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of mechanical services (HVAC, drainage, water supply, firefighting, renewables, controls) across multidisciplinary projects.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to set design ambitions and coordinate mechanical requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor junior team members and foster knowledge sharing.
• Participate in site visits, client meetings, design reviews and project workshops.
