Job summary

Alquion in the Netherlands is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Stack Development Team in Eindhoven. You will own the mechanical design from concept to production release for our high‑volume modules, balancing performance, manufacturability and cost.

You will collaborate with suppliers and colleagues across disciplines, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs meet PED and safety standards while aging well and enabling serviceability.

Qualifications

• A design you owned that was built and then ran for years, so you know how it aged and what it took to keep it running.
• Senior-level experience creating mechanical designs suitable for medium to high volume production scale.
• Working knowledge of material selection, corrosion and manufacturability and why they decide a design.
• Experience developing suppliers technically, not just buying from them.
• SolidWorks, and the discipline that goes with proper drawing and revision control.

Responsibilities

• The mechanical design of the stack from concept, through prototype, to a release that production can build.
• The structural module around it, and the same design support to our balance-of-stack design.
• Making both manufacturable and affordable at serial volumes, with substantiation that stands up under PED 2014/68/EU and notfied-body scrutiny.
• The technical relationship with the suppliers who build it: selection, development, qualification, and solving problems together.
• The mentorship to more junior engineers providing technical guidance and fostering a safety-conscious and standards-compliant engineering culture.
