Job summary

Albert Heijn is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join the Point of Sale team within the AH Customer Technology platform. You will design, develop, test and maintain services in Kotlin for 13k+ checkouts and 60k handheld scanners while ensuring reliability and scalability in production.

You will lead technical design within the team, drive automated testing, CI/CD, and security best practices, and mentor colleagues as we migrate to hybrid work and accelerate our food retail technology

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Spring Boot and distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing and Agile ways of working.
• Big bonus if you have retail, e-commerce or large enterprise exposure.
• You enjoy teamwork, are proactive and passionate about tech.

As Senior Backend Developer you will join the 'Point of Sale' team within the AH Customer Technology platform. This department is responsible for the development of the staffed and self-service checkouts in our Albert Heijn and AH to go stores. This means you are responsible for more than 13.000 checkouts and 60.000 handheld scanners, handling 17 million transactions per week. When shopping at Albert Heijn yourself, you use your own product every visit. Being an engineer in this team means that your goal is to ensure that our customers are using our product with no hiccups and the fastest and most reliable solution is moved to production. You do this by knowing the ins and outs of our applications and using your experience to reach the best solution together with the other engineers in the team

• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, architecture and design patterns
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD and agile ways of working
