Job summary

Spektrum, based in The Hague, is seeking a Principal Technician to install, maintain and repair ICT systems and provide 24/7 on-call support for Service Operations. You will deliver Level 2 expertise and ensure KPI-driven performance on complex network and system tasks.

Responsibilities include software configuration, system tuning, on-site installation, and end-user support across a large organisation. Travel to NATO sites may be required, with security clearance envisaged.

Qualifications

• Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years of post-qualification experience, or secondary education with 5 years of related post-qualification experience.
• At least 3 years of practical experience implementing and maintaining ICT end systems within a large organisation.
• Good experience configuring hardware and software.
• Good understanding of ICT systems and ability to work independently to solve problems.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting technical issues and providing end-user support.
• ITIL Foundation or Advanced level training and certification.
• Network configuration and debugging/troubleshooting (TCP/IP, VPN, VLAN, firewall, DNS).
• Cybersecurity infrastructure understanding.
• Software development or scripting in Java, C, C++, Python or other scripting languages.
• Hardware and software configuration of server hosting platforms, including storage controllers, RAID and redundancy management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in remote server administration, log analysis and network tools (Wireshark).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of ICT systems and provide Level 2 support.
• Design, verify, document and amend moderately complex software configurations for deployment.
• Monitor operational systems and tune system software for throughput and efficiency.
• Carry out network maintenance tasks and diagnose faults using required tools.
• Install or remove hardware and software, test installations and document results.
• Provide 24/7 on-call response to service operations and support for ticket resolution.
