Job summary

ProfiNRG, a leading Dutch solar energy company based in Utrecht, seeks a Senior Grid Connection Engineer MV/HV to design and realise MV/HV grid connections for solar and BESS projects. You translate customer and grid operator needs into practical, safe solutions and coordinate with DSOs, TSOs, customers and suppliers.

You will work from our Utrecht office on projects from concept through handover, joining a dynamic team in a fast-growing renewable energy company with attractive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or related field.
• At least 3 years of direct MV/HV grid connection engineering experience.
• Experience in industrial environments, utility-scale projects, renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, protection systems and grid interfaces.
• Experience with SLDs, technical specifications, design packages and engineering documentation.
• Experience with independently developing technical solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent English communication skills; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review MV/HV grid connection designs.
• Prepare and review SLDs, protection philosophies, equipment layouts, cable concepts and technical specifications.
• Advise project teams on technical solutions, risks, reliability, constructability and cost efficiency.
• Translate customer requirements, grid operator requirements and project objectives into practical engineering solutions.
• Coordinate technical interfaces with DSOs, TSOs, industrial customers, contractors and suppliers.
• Support technical proposals, concept designs, budget estimates and tender documentation.
• Review supplier documentation and engineering deliverables.
• Support supplier selection, technical bid evaluations and procurement activities.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, energisation and handover.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, utility requirements and international standards.

ProfiNRG is one of the leading and most successful solar energy companies in the Netherlands, based in Utrecht. For over 10 years, we have been active in the development, sales, realisation and maintenance of large-scale solar energy systems within the C&I market and Utility market.

We develop large-scale solar parks and design and deliver integrated renewable energy solutions, including EV charging systems, batteries, solar panels and energy management systems.

Due to our international growth ambitions and the increasing technical complexity of our Solar and BESS projects, we are looking for a Senior Grid Connection Engineer MV/HV.

The role

As Senior Grid Connection Engineer MV/HV, you are responsible for the design, engineering and realisation of medium-voltage and high-voltage grid connection solutions for our Solar and BESS projects.

You work on projects from concept and feasibility through engineering, commissioning and handover. You translate customer requirements, grid operator requirements and project objectives into practical, safe and technically strong solutions.

This role requires direct experience with MV/HV grid connection engineering. We are looking for someone who understands substations, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, SLDs, grid interfaces and utility requirements in practice. The profile should be someone who already brings this knowledge and experience, not someone who still needs to learn the basics of the role.

You will work closely with engineering, project management, sales, business development, customers, grid operators, contractors and suppliers.

You will work from our office in Utrecht.

What to bring

You are technically strong, analytical and practical. You can independently develop technical solutions and know how to review, challenge and improve designs. You move easily between engineering, project teams, customers, suppliers and grid operators.

In addition, you have:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related technical field;
• At least 3 years of direct experience with MV and/or HV grid connection engineering;
• Experience within industrial environments, utility-scale projects, renewable energy or infrastructure projects;
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, protection systems and grid interfaces;
• Experience with SLDs, technical specifications, design packages and engineering documentation;
• Experience with independently developing technical solutions;
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills;
• Excellent English communication skills. Dutch is a plus.

Nice to have

• Experience with Solar, BESS, industrial facilities or utility substations;
• Experience with power transformers, including specification, design review, testing, commissioning and acceptance;
• Experience with protection relays, protection coordination studies, relay settings and relay testing;
• Experience with SCADA, substation automation or control systems;
• Experience with Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB or similar manufacturers;
• Experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning and energisation;
• Knowledge of utility connection requirements and grid codes.
