Job summary

Arup in the Netherlands is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical and foundation design for bridges, civil structures and buildings within multidisciplinary teams. Based in Amsterdam or Utrecht, the role offers hybrid working (2–3 days in the office) and opportunities to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to client bids.

You will perform analyses, translate results into recommendations, advise clients, and help scope ground investigations while applying Dutch codes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in geotechnical engineering or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience working with Dutch soils.
• Proficiency in Dutch at minimum B2 level.
• Strong understanding of foundations, deep excavations, earthworks and ground investigations.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes and the Dutch National Annex.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical scope and design within multidisciplinary projects.
• Perform geotechnical analyses and calculations for foundations, deep excavations, and earthworks.
• Develop clear technical recommendations and reports based on analysis results.
• Advise clients on geotechnical matters and contribute to bids.
• Coordinate geotechnical design across project teams and mentor junior colleagues.
