Job summary

ABB E-mobility is seeking a Firmware Engineering Lead in the Netherlands (Delft) to lead the embedded firmware team across the full product lifecycle. You will drive technical excellence, own end-to-end firmware execution, and collaborate with hardware, software, and product teams to deliver robust FW for powerful EV charging solutions.

The role requires a decade of embedded firmware leadership, strong architectural sense, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in embedded firmware or software engineering, with leadership of technical teams.
Proven ability to deliver production-quality firmware for complex HW/SW products.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
Strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead, develop and coach the local firmware engineering team in the Netherlands.
Own firmware lifecycle end-to-end from requirements to field support.
Provide hands-on technical leadership by reviewing designs and reducing unnecessary complexity.
Make decisive technical calls when requirements are unclear or trade-offs arise.
Collaborate cross-functionally with system architecture, hardware, test automation, product management, manufacturing and field support.
Define firmware scope, estimates, plans and delivery priorities for new product development and improvements.
Enable maintainable software through best practices and proper documentation.
