Job summary

TNO is a leading independent research organisation in the Netherlands, based in The Hague. The Export Control Advisor role involves guiding the organisation on export control, classification and sanctions, handling complex cases and contributing to the ICP.

You will collaborate with multiple units across the organisation, perform risk analyses and help ensure compliance with EU, US and national controls. A flexible, hybrid work model and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of export control laws (EU/US) and dual‑use controls.
• Experience with licence applications and compliance reviews.
• Ability to advise management on risk and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

• Advise the business on export control and sanctions at a tactical level.
• Perform military and dual‑use classifications of goods, data and tech.
• Prepare and submit export licences to authorities; manage exemptions.
• Conduct sanctions screening and advise on third‑party due diligence.
• Develop and improve the internal compliance programme and ICP procedures.
• Support risk assessments, gap analyses and compliance reviews.
