Job summary

Science [&] Technology in Delft is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to lead the development of our onboard processing platform for space applications. You will own the embedded software lifecycle from concept to validation and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance, reliable products for demanding environments.

As a senior you will drive Linux-based systems using Yocto/Buildroot, C/C++, Python, and AI accelerators, while mentoring others and shaping

Qualifications

• Education: BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of embedded systems experience.
• Experience with space applications or safety-critical environments.
• Knowledge of GPU/AI acceleration including NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA and/or VITIS-AI.
• Linux kernel development, drivers, and embedded Linux optimization.
• Strong C, C++, Python programming.
• Experience with CI/CD using CMake, GCC and Git in an embedded Linux context.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded systems engineering by establishing efficient processes and mentoring engineers.
• Translate high-level requirements into robust embedded software and hardware designs.
• Develop and maintain Linux-based operating systems for onboard edge computing platforms.
• Develop reliable software for failure detection, recovery, and mission continuity.
• Develop and integrate satellite communication protocols and interfaces.
• Develop and optimize drivers for ML accelerators to run AI workloads on embedded platforms.
