Job summary

Doghouse Recruitment partners with a Utrecht-based client building a regulated medical device that combines imaging, robotics and ML. The role focuses on architecture, reliability and maintainability in a Linux real-time environment, joining a multidisciplinary team with hardware and systems engineers.

You will own software components in C++ (C++17/20), work on state-machine logic, and integrate evolving hardware.

Qualifications

• 4 to 7 years of professional C++ development experience.
• Strong modern C++ (C++17/20) and proven work on production-level systems.
• Experience structuring code for maintainability, plus automated testing.
• Linux experience and strong debugging skills in complex systems.
• Git and collaborative workflows.
• State machines, hardware-software integration, DDS or similar pub/sub, and Python scripting are all a plus.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software components inside the hardware-integrated system using modern C++.
• Maintain structured state-machine-based logic and integrate changing hardware into the existing stack.
• Debug across software/hardware boundary and drive improvements in architecture, testability and performance.
• Collaborate in system-level design discussions and optimize performance in Linux real-time environments.
