Job summary

DORC in the Netherlands seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop innovative medical electrical systems for eye surgery. You join the Technology Development Team, focusing on early product phases, research, benchmarking and rapid prototyping.

You will collaborate with multiple disciplines, ensure conformance with medical device standards and work through design, verification and documentation as part of a regulated development process.

Qualifications

• Experience in applied research, feasibility studies and technology derisking.
• Bachelor's degree with proven experience; Master/PhD preferred.
• Master or PhD level in a relevant field.
• Control theory knowledge with PID controllers and motor control.
• Embedded C, MCUs/DSPs, and UART/SPI/I2C peripherals.
• Model-based design using MATLAB/Simulink.
• 10+ years experience across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Feasibility studies and development of embedded Medical Device Software through simulations and prototypes.
• Develop and manage embedded software for eye surgery.
• Derisk and design mechatronics and control systems for surgical equipment.
• Design embedded systems architecture and integrate mechatronic subsystems.
• Resolve issues and optimize products affecting performance or safety.
• Supervise new technologies in the development process.
• Document design, verification and work instructions.
