Job summary

Tellent is expanding its Backend team and seeking a Senior Backend Engineer specializing in Elixir. You will work on the Tellent Recruitee ATS, building scalable, reliable systems and modernizing the existing codebase.

The role thrives on a product mindset, collaboration across disciplines, and technical excellence. You will join Team Hire in a hybrid/remote setup across Amsterdam, Cologne, and Poland, with a strong emphasis on learning, mentoring, and impactful architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong Elixir backend experience or equivalent with motivation to learn Elixir.
• Experience designing scalable apps and solid DB knowledge, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch and RabbitMQ.
• Strong debugging and pragmatic problem solving to improve existing applications.
• Focus on quality, reliability, and pragmatic trade-offs in engineering.
• Product-minded: asks questions and considers user impact and technical trade-offs.
• Collaborative, enjoys pair programming and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve reliable, scalable backend for Tellent Recruitee.
• Modernize and enhance existing codebase for performance and maintainability.
• Design solutions balancing tech quality with business needs.
• Own features; ensure they’re well-tested and maintainable.
• Investigate and resolve bugs to keep customers happy.
• Participate in design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with Backend/Frontend, Design, QA and DevOps.
• Engage in pair programming and knowledge sharing.
