Job summary

g2 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design, grid integration and commissioning of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across The Netherlands. You will work on projects from 20MW to 300MW, ensuring robust electrical design and reliable operation.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 3–5+ years in power systems or BESS projects, with strong IEC standards knowledge.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience in power systems, substations, renewables or BESS projects.
• Strong knowledge of IEC standards and protection philosophies.
• Experience with utility-scale electrical design and grid integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design activities for utility-scale BESS projects (20MW–300MW).
• Develop MV and HV electrical designs, including single line diagrams and protection schemes.
• Perform electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination using ETAP.
• Support FAT, SAT and commissioning during project delivery.
• Provide technical support during development, construction and operation.

Job title: Senior Electrical Engineer - BESS

Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Contract length: Freelancing - 12 months – potential for extension

Rate: Negotiable

Languages: English and bonus if can speak Dutch

We are seeking an experiences Senior Electrical Engineer to support the development and delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across The Netherlands. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, grid integration, commissioning and optimisation of large-scale energy storage facilities supporting the Dutch energy transition.

Responsibilities:

• Lead electrical design activities for utility-scale BESS projects ranging from 20MW to 300MW.
• Develop MV and HV electrical designs including single line diagrams, protection schemes and substation interfaces.
• Perform electrical studies including load flow, short circuit and protection coordination analysis using ETAP.
• Support FAT, SAT and commissioning activities during project delivery.
• Provide technical support during project development, construction and operational phases.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in power systems, substations, renewable energy or BESS projects.
• Strong knowledge of IEC standards and protection philosophies.
• Right to Work in the EU, no sponsorship is available.
