Job summary

Catawiki, a global marketplace for extraordinary objects, seeks a Senior Director of People Operations to lead payroll, rewards, compliance, and employee experience across Amsterdam and Lisbon.

You will shape strategy, build scalable operations, and partner with Finance, Legal, HRIS, and leadership to deliver data-driven decisions in a hybrid, international environment.

The role requires 12+ years of experience and fluency in English, with Dutch as a strong plus.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in international, fast‑growing organisations in People Ops.
• Experience leading multi-country People Operations (payroll, benefits, compliance).
• Strong knowledge of employment law in NL and Europe; handle complex cases.
• Experience with reward and benefits benchmarking.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the strategic roadmap for People Operations, payroll, wellbeing and facilities, aligned with business strategy.
• Lead and develop the People Operations, payroll and facilities teams with clear priorities and service standards.
• Strengthen personnel operations across the lifecycle using automation, AI and self‑service to improve scalability.
• Ensure compliance with employment law, payroll, tax, audit and ESG requirements, partnering with HRIS, Finance and Legal.
• Oversee employee relations, wellbeing and absence management with data‑driven policy improvements.
• Own the facilities and workplace experience for Amsterdam and Lisbon, ensuring health, safety and hybrid standards.
