Job summary

Haskoning in the Netherlands seeks a Data Engineer to design, build and maintain the data engineering layer, connecting source systems to data consumers and enabling AI use cases across the organisation.

You will collaborate with the Data Architect and IT/analytics teams to deliver reusable data services, secure pipelines and well-documented data infrastructures that support reporting, automation and digital twin initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or cloud-based data platforms.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least one cloud data engineering certification.
• Experience designing and operating production-grade data pipelines.
• Strong skills with data platforms, including data lakes/warehouses, SQL and Python.
• Ability to provide reusable data services with clear interfaces and ownership.
• Good understanding of data security, metadata, data modelling, DevOps/CI-CD and data governance.
• You are residing in the Netherlands or hold a valid Dutch residence permit.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines and integration flows from source systems to data consumers.
• Design, publish and maintain reusable data services/endpoints and datasets.
• Engineer and improve cloud-based data platform components and deployment routines.
• Collaborate to define integration patterns, data structures and metadata requirements.
• Operate data engineering services with documentation and reliable data flows.
