Job summary

Damen Naval in the Netherlands is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to develop a secure cyber design for our frigates and related training centers, ensuring safe delivery to clients.

Your role spans the full project lifecycle, requiring deep IT/OT security expertise, networking knowledge, and collaboration with vendors and subcontractors. The position offers hybrid work and industry-leading benefits within our engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial Automation, IT Systems, Information Security Management or another relevant discipline.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in the design or maintenance of complex IT or OT systems, preferably in ships, offshore or industrial installations.
• Broad knowledge of networking and IT systems, including related hardware infrastructure and system hardening.
• Knowledge about cybersecurity standards ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.
• Experience with third-party vendors and subcontractors.
• Proficient in German and English (written & verbal).

Responsibilities

• Develop deliverables such as specification documents, functional descriptions, schematic drawings and security concepts.
• Participate in discussions with IT security, OT security, emission security and physical security experts.
• Contribute to test and verification plans for security measures.
• Participate in design checks and reviews to guarantee Cybersecurity standards.
• Verify technical performance of vendors and subcontractors.
• Perform offers analysis in collaboration with the Purchase department.
• Ensure compliance to Class and customer requirements.
• Work with vendors and subcontractors to secure timely project contributions.
• Contribute to further development of the E&A Engineering department.
