Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Senior CX Platform Engineer to drive AI-powered workflows for Customer Experience teams. You’ll design agentic workflows, MCP servers, and secure, scalable integrations with enterprise systems using Claude Code, GitLab Duo, and other tooling.

The role emphasizes production-quality Python/TypeScript, CI/CD, and hands-on AWS infrastructure with Terraform. You’ll mentor engineers, contribute to upstream projects, and help shape the CX Platform Engine, with strong emphasis on

Qualifications

• Production software experience with multi-quarter work from ambiguity to production.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) beyond chat, including tool use, MCP servers, agent loops, and evaluations.
• Ability to translate non-engineering stakeholders' workflows into technical plans and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Use Claude Code, GitLab Duo, and other coding agents as your primary development environment for planning, implementation, refactoring, testing, reviews, and documentation.
• Build and maintain the team's agent harness with shared conventions and CI checks, publishing reusable patterns.
• Ship agents and multi-step workflows for account research, success planning, scoping, status reporting, and onboarding.
• Build MCP servers and connectors for access to enterprise systems with evaluations, tracing, and human-in-the-loop checks.
• Evolve the CX Application Platform's gateway and AWS infra (ECS, RDS, Lambda), Terraform, and deployment paths.
• Ship production-quality Python and TypeScript with CI/CD, tests, observability, security review, and runbooks.
• Prototype with CX teams to productionize internal apps and enable field learning as reusable references.
• Contribute upstream to GitLab, mentor engineers, and raise code-review standards.
