Job summary

ATG Europe is seeking a Design & Analysis Engineer for its CompositesLab in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. You will lead top‑level design, CAD modelling, FE analysis, and optimization of advanced composite structures for space.

Work spans development of testing processes, documentation, and collaboration with multi‑disciplinary teams. Occasional travel to other ATG locations may be required, and a security screening will be conducted after selection.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in engineering (aerospace or mechanical).
• 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to work autonomously across multiple disciplines.
• Affinity with fibre‑reinforced composite materials and structures.
• Knowledge of design and optimisation methods, analytical and numerical.
• Experience with FE model setup and analysis, preferably of composites.
• Experience with commercial FE tools (FEMAP with NX/MSC Nastran).
• Experience with dynamic analysis including sine and random vibration.
• Experience with CAD software (CATIA V5).
• Affinity for manufacturing methods for composites; metals is a plus.
• Basic programming skills (Python).
• Fluency in English; other languages advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Top level design and system engineering on composite technologies and products.
• CAD modelling and design.
• FE modelling, analysis, and optimisation.
• Setting up and improving design, analysis, and optimisation procedures.
• Developing testing processes for large spacecraft components.
• Reporting and documentation.
• Supporting design for manufacturing activities.
• Supporting or partaking in manufacturing of components.
• Supporting or partaking in testing of components.
• Supporting the development of the supply chain including quality assurance activities.
• Organising, performing and supervising various research activities.
• Interfacing with customers as part of projects or business development.
