Job summary

Uneek Global is recruiting a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a landmark Data Centre project in Amsterdam. You will take overall contractual responsibility, guide the commercial team and safeguard profitability while collaborating with clients, consultants and supply-chain partners.

The role requires extensive experience in major construction, strong leadership and a proven track record in cost control, forecasting and contract management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related construction discipline.
• At least 10 years of Quantity Surveying or commercial management experience.
• Proven experience leading commercial teams on major construction projects.
• Strong contractor-side commercial experience.
• Experience with large project subcontract packages.
• Fluent in English; Dutch beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Leading the commercial delivery of a major construction project.
• Managing and developing the project’s Quantity Surveying and commercial team.
• Taking responsibility for budgets, cost control, cash flow, forecasting and profitability.
• Reporting commercial performance, risks and opportunities to senior management.
• Establishing robust commercial procedures and reporting systems.
• Overseeing subcontract procurement, negotiation, appointment and final accounts.
• Reviewing tender and contract documentation to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Leading the management of variations, claims, contractual correspondence and change control.
• Managing Extension of Time notifications and supporting commercial documentation.
• Ensuring subcontracts reflect scope, risk allocation and contractual requirements.
• Working with project leadership to ensure contractual obligations are understood and managed.
• Monitoring progress and implementing corrective action where commercial performance falls behind plan.
• Leading commercial negotiations with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Developing strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
• Providing strategic commercial and contractual advice throughout project delivery.
• Supporting pre-construction, tendering and project handover activities where required.
• Mentoring and developing junior and senior members of the commercial team.
