Job summary

Jones Engineering is seeking a Commercial Manager to join the delivery teams for a large Data Centre project in central Amsterdam. Preference for candidates with an Electrical background and a proven track record in commercial management for complex infrastructure schemes.

The role offers growth under senior guidance in Ireland and requires strong leadership, contract awareness, and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams on site in Amsterdam.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics is essential.
• Data Centre project experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Electrical background is advantageous for this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to construction team on QS functions, including compliance with contract obligations and reporting.
• Identify commercial risks and report to management promptly.
• Prepare monthly progress applications with accurate remeasurements, variations and day-works.
• Procurement support in conjunction with the Procurement Department.
• Manage subcontractor accounts from award to interim valuation and final account.
• Forecast turnover and cash flow; ensure accurate project reporting.
• Review projects for commercial performance and ad-hoc trend analysis.
• Address contractual items identified from Employers, Design Team, or subcontractors.

This Data Centre Project is in a region where further growth is expected and is an opportunity for an ambitious Commercial Manager to grow their career with support and guidance from our senior staff in Ireland.

Due to continued expansion in our Data Centre division, Jones Engineering require a Commercial Manager preferably with an Electrical background to join the delivery teams for large Data Centre Project in central Amsterdam. This Data Centre Project is in a region where further growth is expected and is an opportunity for an ambitious Commercial Manager to grow their career with support and guidance from our senior staff in Ireland.

Responsibilities

To provide support to Construction Team on all Quantity Surveying functions including, but not limited to the following:

• Ensure compliance with contract obligations and provide advice and monitoring of same to construction team
• Ability to identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of same to management
• Compile monthly progress applications and ensure they are inclusive of accurate remeasure, site variations, day-works or claims
• Procurement - operational procurement activity and contract support, in conjunction with the Procurement Department
• Manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations and final account
• Managing and forecasting of turnover and cash flow of the projects
• Reviewing and commercial management of all projects, to ensure accurate and reliable reporting
• Identify, Analyse and report on trends within the Business & Projects
• Review all incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Team and /or subcontractors, to identify contractually critical items and to initiate replies
• To ensure Construction Team is adhering to all Contractual Requirements and providing advice and monitoring of same
• Manage and mentor the wider Commercial Team on site.
• All other duties associated with this role

Key Skills/ Requirements

• Relevant third level qualification essential in Quantity Surveying/ Construction Economics
• Previous Data Centre experience preferable but not essential
• Minimum 8+ years' experience post qualification essential
• Experience in an Electrical role required
• Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-functional team
• Excellent IT Skills
• Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills
