Job summary

MX3D is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper in Amsterdam to own the financial administration, reporting, and internal controls in a fast-growing high-tech scale-up. You will lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings in Exact Online and collaborate with the CFO and external accountants to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.

The role combines hands-on ledger work, project costing, cash flow forecasting, and the design of AO/IC procedures, with remote flexibility one day per week after

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
• Experience with AO/IC documentation and audit preparation is required.
• Strong knowledge of financial closing processes and controls.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual close in Exact Online.
• Handle intercompany entries, accruals, prepayments, and project-related journal entries.
• Oversee WIP reporting, including percentage-of-completion and milestone recognition.
• Prepare structured financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for leadership.
• Monitor cash flow and develop short-term liquidity forecasts.
• Supervise the junior bookkeeper and maintain AP/AR processes.
• Design and implement AO/IC procedures and internal controls for audit readiness.
• Coordinate with external accountants and auditors and support project costing.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial and administrative processes.

Job Summary

As Senior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for the end-to-end financial administration and reporting cycle of the company. You will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in Exact Online , supervise day-to-day bookkeeping activities, and ensure robust financial controls and audit readiness.

You will work closely with the CFO, Chief of Staff, external accountants, and operational teams to provide reliable financial insights, project costing data, and cash flow visibility for the business.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual closing in Exact Online
• Performing hands-on bookkeeping for (more complex) transactions, including intercompany entries, accruals, prepayments, and project-related journal entries in Exact Online
• Managing WIP reporting, including percentage-of-completion accounting, milestone recognition, and accruals
• Preparing structured internal financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting for the CFO and Chief of Staff
• Monitoring cash flow and preparing short-term liquidity forecasts
• Supervising and reviewing the work of the junior bookkeeper
• Overseeing finance operations, including AP/AR processes, payment approvals, and exception handling
• Designing, documenting, and implementing AO/IC procedures and internal controls in preparation for statutory audit requirements
• Managing audit preparation processes and acting as the primary contact for external accountants and auditors
• Providing clean and structured cost and revenue data for project costing and margin analysis
• Supporting continuous improvement and optimization of financial and administrative processes
  

Candidate Profile

• HBO or WO degree in Accounting, Business Economics, Finance, or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or controlling roles with demonstrable ownership of financial closing processes
• Proven experience with AO/IC documentation and/or audit preparation is required
• Strong working knowledge of Exact Online
• Solid understanding of WIP accounting and project-based cost structures
• Comfortable operating as the senior finance professional on-site within a lean finance setup
• Fluent in Dutch and professionally proficient in English
• Experience working alongside or managing a Big Four or mid-tier audit process is a strong differentiator

Nice to Have

• As MX3D has substantial French operations, French language skills are a plus
• Proven experience with international reporting and consolidation
• Proven experience in a scale-up, industrial, manufacturing, or project-based environment
• SPD qualification or RA track in progress is considered a strong plus
