JOB DESCRIPTION

Currently we are looking for a Print Process Engineer to reinforce the 3D Systems team in Soesterberg. This is a very challenging and dynamic position requiring significant interaction with a wide variety of internal and external partners. The role integrates all aspects of 3D printing to create build styles that meet market requirements. The print process engineer will collaborate closely with R&D engineers and application engineers to continually improve, among others, accuracy and productivity. This role requires thinking, hands-on experimentation, characterization studies, and sensitivity studies to ensure build styles are robust.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the execution of print process activities.
  • Develop, test, refine build styles to meet market requirements.
  • Apply design of experiments (DOE) and other experimental techniques and problem solving methods to drive characterization and understanding of the physics and chemistry of the technology.
  • Apply statistical tools (t-tests, control charts, etc.) to analyze data.
  • Interact with Chemists, Software Engineers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, while creating, specifying, solving problems and optimizing printing processes
  • Develop, communicate and document engineering activities.
  • Support existing products in the field.
  • Provide industry specific expertise in 3D printing applications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key leaders and partners across 3D Systems to leverage their contributions and provide assistance as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including both internal and external stakeholders, as a contributing member by providing support in the development of new products
  • Participate in the compilation and review of technical documentation for regulatory submissions
Profile
  • BSc (HBO) or MSc Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or an appropriate equivalent is required
  • Understanding of polymer physics and polymer chemistry;
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping processes for product design and development
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Proficient in design of experiments and root cause analysis
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in 3D printing processes
  • A creative and resourceful problem-solver, balancing speed, and scientific rigor in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to design and execute experiments, deliver results and document data.
  • Basic user of Microsoft office applications
  • Experience with coding (e.g. Python, Matlab, etc.), supporting innovation within print processing, is a strong plus
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Highly motivated, passionate team-player who can collaborate with others and thrive in a dynamic team.
