Job summary

MSD in Boxmeer is seeking a Senior Bioinformatician to apply advanced computational biology, genomics, transcriptomics, and data science to R&D challenges in animal health. You will develop reproducible omics workflows and translate scientific questions into robust analyses supporting vaccine discovery and biomarker studies.

The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across vaccine development and AI/ML initiatives, focusing on NGS, RNA/DNA analyses, and scalable HPC/AWS-based solutions.

Qualifications

• Requires MSc/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Life Sciences.
• Strong genomics/transcriptomics/NGS expertise and data interpretation.
• Proficient in Python and/or R with Linux experience.
• Experience building reproducible pipelines with Nextflow or Snakemake.
• Experience with cloud/HPC and containerization (Git, Docker).
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build reproducible omics and sequencing workflows.
• Transform biological data into decision-ready insights.
• Develop methods for vaccine, antigen, pathogen, and genomic analyses.
• Ensure robust, traceable results with statistics and QC.
• Collaborate with bioinformatics, IT, and AI/ML teams.
• Provide bioinformatics consulting and training to junior researchers.
