Job summary

Finom, a European fintech startup, seeks a Senior Backend Engineer in the Netherlands. You will own backend initiatives, design scalable financial infrastructure, and collaborate with product, frontend, and ML/AI teams to deliver value for hundreds of thousands of businesses across Europe.

You will emphasize maintainable code, security, and end-to-end ownership in a product-minded, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional backend development with a product engineering mindset.
• Excellent knowledge of .NET and C#.
• Hands-on experience architecting and evolving distributed systems in production.
• Proven ability to collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers from other disciplines.
• Strong business acumen – you understand how your work connects to company objectives.
• Clear, concise communication in English across technical and non-technical audiences.
• A builder's mentality: you care deeply about shipping great products, not just writing great code.

Responsibilities

• Own the backend initiatives with a product-minded approach, delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend and mobile engineers to design robust architectures.
• Discuss trade-offs, explain technical constraints to stakeholders, and mentor teammates.
• Ensure high quality through automated tests, reviews, and security best practices.
• Move proactively to improve team processes and customer outcomes.
