Job summary

Meyer Talent Acquisition in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fintech client and own backend services end-to-end. You will design secure, scalable cloud-native systems and collaborate with Product, QA, and Compliance to ensure reliable, auditable delivery.

The role focuses on Kotlin/Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and Kafka within a regulated environment, emphasizing security, scalability, and strong ownership.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience as a Backend or Full-Stack Engineer in production environments.
• Strong experience with Kotlin/JVM languages, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on expertise with event-driven architectures (Kafka) and RESTful API design.
• Solid understanding of OAuth 2.0 / OIDC and identity providers such as Zitadel, Keycloak, or Auth0.
• Experience working in regulated environments (fintech, banking) with a focus on auditability.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of backend services and architect scalable solutions.
• Design and implement secure, auditable integration layers between backend services and external APIs.
• Develop and maintain backend services using Kotlin/Spring Boot and PostgreSQL.
• Build and operate RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures (Kafka) with reliability and idempotency.
• Implement secure authentication/authorization flows (OAuth/OIDC).
• Apply a compliance-by-design approach across backend development for auditability.
• Collaborate with QA, Security, and Compliance to ensure high-quality releases and audits.
