Job summary

Vinted in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Vinted Go Carrier domain. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering mid-mile transport and warehouse operations, with a focus on reliability and scale.

You’ll collaborate across Product, Operations, and other engineering teams, own end-to-end initiatives, and help evolve our Ruby on Rails monolith toward clearer module boundaries. English communication required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with ownership from design to production.
• Solid Ruby experience or willingness to learn Vinted's stack quickly.
• Strong API design and production observability fundamentals.
• Experience operating services in production and responding to incidents.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs powering mid-mile transport and warehouse operations.
• Own end-to-end technical initiatives, including problem framing, system design, delivery, monitoring and iteration.
• Make architecture decisions with long-term impact, balancing scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Evolve our core Ruby on Rails modular monolith toward clearer module boundaries and defined APIs.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Decision Science, and other engineering teams to align on contracts and dependencies.
• Mentor teammates, assist onboarding, and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing.
• Take ownership of reliability, alerts, metrics, and incident follow-ups, including on-call rotations.
