Job summary

Elockers leads the way in secure, scalable smart lockers across events and venues. We are scaling and seeking a Lead Engineer to be the senior technical anchor of a hands-on team, turning business priorities into reliable technical plans and deliverables.

You'll own backend architecture, guide migration from monolith to microservices, and raise the bar on CI/CD, testing, security and documentation while strengthening our payments infrastructure with Adyen integrations.

Qualifications

• Senior experience building and operating backend systems and microservices.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with payments, finance or marketplace platforms. Adyen is a strong plus.
• PHP/Laravel experience is a strong plus.
• Experience leading or acting as the technical anchor of a small engineering team.
• Record of improving engineering practice such as CI/CD and automated testing.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with founders and commercial stakeholders.
• Hands-on, programmatic and excited about AI-assisted software development.

Responsibilities

• Own the backend architecture and guide the evolution from our legacy monolith to microservices.
• Raise the engineering bar around CI/CD, testing, documentation, security and reliability.
• Strengthen our payment system infrastructure, including Adyen integrations, payouts and reconciliation.
• Lead and mentor a small team of hands-on developers.
• Reduce key-person dependency through better documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Help define how we use AI-assisted development effectively and safely.
• Bridge business priorities and engineering execution.
