Job summary

GeekSoft Consulting is seeking an experienced Azure Infrastructure Engineer on a fixed term contract in Utrecht, NL. You will design, build and continuously improve our clients' online platform, with emphasis on Azure IaaS/PaaS, governance and security.

You will architect reusable IaC using Bicep and Terraform, enforce policies, lead RCA for complex incidents and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Dutch and English proficiency preferred.

Qualifications

• Azure Infrastructure Engineer with strong Azure infra, governance, security and IaC.
• Architect reusable IaC templates using Bicep and Terraform.
• Design scalable, secure Azure cloud architectures.
• Define and enforce cloud governance policies including Azure Policy.
• Establish cloud security and compliance guardrails.
• Design identity architectures using Entra ID and Managed Identities.
• Lead Zero Trust initiatives, data encryption and threat protection.
• Oversee cloud reliability and operational practices.
• Lead RCA for L3 incidents and drive complex issue resolution.
• Review PRs and enforce DevOps practices.
• Work with Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, and Sentinel.
• Create and manage PBIs and user stories.
• Follow Agile and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Dutch-speaking candidates with English proficiency preferred.

Requirements

• Azure Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in Azure infrastructure, cloud governance, security, troubleshooting, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Architect reusable and modular Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using Bicep and Terraform.
• Design scalable, secure, and cost-optimized Azure cloud architectures.
• Define and enforce cloud governance policies, including Azure Policy, tagging, and naming conventions.
• Establish cloud security and compliance guardrails.
• Design and maintain secure identity architectures using Entra ID, Management Groups, Subscriptions, Conditional Access Policies, and Managed Identities.
• Lead initiatives related to Zero Trust, data encryption, and threat protection.
• Oversee cloud reliability and operational practices.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for L3 incidents and drive resolution of complex technical issues.
• Review Pull Requests and provide technical feedback.
• Review and enforce DevOps practices, including automated validation, testing, and change control.
• Work with Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Create and manage Product Backlog Items (PBIs) and user stories.
• Follow Agile ways of working and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Apply best practices when selecting and using Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI, and other cloud-native tools.
• Continuously learn and adopt new Azure technologies and capabilities.
• Participate in on-call support for P1 incidents during off-hours.
• Expert-level knowledge of Azure IaaS and PaaS management, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Strong hands-on experience with Bicep and Terraform.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Azure identity management.
• Expertise in Azure governance, security, compliance, and cloud architecture.
• Experience with Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native tools and technologies.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and change management.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment.
• Dutch-speaking candidates with sufficient English proficiency are preferred.
