Job summary

GeekSoft Consulting in Amsterdam is seeking an IT Platform Engineer for a fixed-term contract to help design, build and continuously improve the client’s online platform. You will research and implement new technologies, ensure resiliency and availability, and collaborate with the team to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Ideal candidates bring strong Python skills, Azure experience, Terraform IaC, Databricks Unity Catalog knowledge, and a solid grasp of SOLID, DDD, and testing with pytest.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an IT Platform Engineer with strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience across full software lifecycle from planning to automated deployment.
• Strong OO design and Python-oriented development.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Azure cloud services (storage, networking, IAM).
• Knowledge of data governance including Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL; Cosmos DB is a plus.
• Proficient in Terraform IaC.
• Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD practices.
• Apply SOLID principles and design patterns for scalable solutions.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Experience with unit testing frameworks like pytest.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an IT Platform Engineer with strong proficiency in Python.


• Ability to manage the complete software development lifecycle, from solution planning and design through development, testing, and automated deployment.


• Strong experience in object-oriented programming, analysis, and design, preferably using Python.


• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including storage, access management, networking, and related services.


• Good understanding of data governance practices, including Databricks Unity Catalog.


• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases; knowledge of Azure Cosmos DB is an advantage.


• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.


• Good understanding of incremental software development, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.


• Experience applying SOLID principles and software design patterns to build maintainable and scalable solutions.


• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and its practical application.


• Hands-on experience with unit testing frameworks such as pytest and mocking libraries.
