Applied Medical, based in Amersfoort (NL), is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our European Finance team. You will maintain the general ledgers for multiple entities, handle VAT and Intrastat declarations, and support internal and external audits in a fast-growing international environment.

This on-site role with hybrid options offers collaboration, process improvements, and exposure to manufacturing accounting across Europe.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar position.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Experience with SAP is preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Knowledge of other European languages is preferred.
• Work experience in an international environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze general ledger accounts and transactions (production costs).
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
• Post journal entries for the monthly closing.
• Analyze manufacturing variances, cost prices, and absorption.
• Manage fixed assets.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Prepare VAT and Intrastat returns.
• Identify process improvements within the team.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company standards.

We are looking for an accurate Senior Accountant, who thrives in a cooperative and dynamic environment. The European organization of Applied Medical consists of multiple legal entities all managed from our European headquarters. In this crucial role, you will maintain the general ledgers for these different entities in a timely, accurate and complete manner. Next to this, you are responsible for different tasks like VAT and intrastat declarations, process improvements, contribution to internal and external audits and reporting. With your eye for detail, you make sure that this is all done in accordance with the company policies and local legislative requirements.

You will be part of the accounting team, and you will report to the Manager Accounting and Credit Control. You’ll join a culture fueled by collaboration, innovation, and openness, driven by our mission to make a positive, meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze general ledger accounts and transactions, including accounts related to our production activities (cost accounting)
• Prepare, coordinate and review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
• Prepare, check and post journal entries for the monthly financial closing
• Support the Manufacturing team in analyzing manufacturing variances, cost prices, and over/under absorption
• Fixed assets management
• Work on audit-related tasks, internal and external
• Prepare VAT and Intrastat returns
• Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, procedures and/or systems within own team and/or work area
• Comply with the financial and company's quality regulations and quality standards

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting
• 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar position
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Experience in accounting
• Experience with SAP is preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Knowledge of other European languages is preferred
