Job summary

EvolveTalent seeks a Screen Print Assistant/Operator in Leiden to join a global materials science and digital identification leader. You will collaborate with the Lead Printer, prepare inks, and oversee color management to ensure high-quality prints.

The role requires adherence to formulas, attention to color accuracy, and physical fitness for long shifts. English or Dutch literacy is essential for safety and order sheets.

Qualifications

• Experience in a graphic production environment or screen printing preferred, but willingness to learn is valued.
• Excellent color discernment and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow formulas, measurements and technical specs.
• Physically able to stand, walk and lift during shifts.
• English or Dutch reading of order sheets and safety instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently mix inks (water-based, plastisol, or solvent) based on Pantone color codes or customer requirements.
• Check the viscosity and quality of ink prior to each print run.
• Maintain ink stock levels and report when reordering is needed.
• Archive and document customer-specific ink formulas for future orders.
• Set up and prepare screen printing machinery for operation.
• Inspect, degrease, and clean screen frames for printing quality.
• Mount and adjust screens, squeegees, and floodbars in presses.
• Stage and organize production materials at the workstation.
• Assist with loading and feeding materials into the press.
• Monitor print quality for sharpness, color opacity, and defects.
• Unload printed products and guide through the dryer/curing oven.
• Report any print deviations or machine malfunctions to Lead Printer.
• Thoroughly clean screens, squeegees, and ink wells after orders.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace compliant with safety rules.

Job description

EvolveTalent® is partnering with a global leader in materials science and digital identification solutions to recruit an Screen Print Assistant/Operator. Operating in over 50 countries with approximately 35,000 employees worldwide, our client is dedicated to precision, high quality, and continuous innovation.

In this role, you will serve as an essential link in the screen printing production process at the facility in Leiden area. Working alongside the Lead Printer, you will prepare and execute printing jobs while taking full ownership of ink mixing and color management. Your attention to detail ensures production runs smoothly, efficiently, and without delay.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Ink Mixing & Color Management

• Independently mix inks (water-based, plastisol, or solvent) based on Pantone (PMS) color codes, specific formulas, or customer requirements.

• Check the viscosity and overall quality of the ink prior to starting each print run.

• Accurately maintain ink stock levels and proactively report when raw materials need to be reordered.

• Archive and document customer-specific ink formulas for future orders.

2. Print Process Preparation

• Set up and prepare screen printing machinery (carousel, flatbed, or rotary presses) for operation.

• Inspect, degrease, and clean screen frames to ensure they are free of imperfections.

• Mount and adjust screens, squeegees, and floodbars in the machine.

• Stage and organize production materials (textiles, paper, plastics, etc.) at the designated workstation.

3. Production Assistance

• Assist with loading and feeding materials into the printing press.

• Continuously monitor print quality during production, checking for sharpness, color opacity, and potential defects.

• Unload printed products and properly guide them through the conveyor dryer/curing oven.

• Promptly report any print deviations or machine malfunctions to the Lead Printer.

4. Cleaning & Maintenance

• Thoroughly clean screens, squeegees, and ink wells upon completion of a production order.

• Maintain a clean and organized ink-mixing kitchen and workspace in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Responsibly dispose of chemical waste (such as leftover ink and cleaning agents) according to company guidelines.

Your Profile

• Experience: Experience in a graphic production environment or screen printing shop is highly preferred, though a strong willingness to learn the trade is equally valued.

• Color Perception: Excellent eye for color and detail (no color blindness).

• Accuracy: Ability to work strictly according to formulas, measurements, and technical specifications.

• Physical Fitness: Good physical condition, as the role involves standing, walking, and lifting throughout the shift.

• Language Skills: Proficiency in English or Dutch to accurately read order sheets and safety instructions.

• Key Competencies: Quality-oriented, proactive team player who stays resilient under pressure and tight deadlines.
