An innovative molecular diagnostics company is seeking an experienced Fractional Commercial Director to lead the go-to-market strategy and commercial preparation for its first product within oncology.
This is an opportunity to work closely with an early-stage diagnostics business as it moves towards commercialisation, helping to build the strategy, processes and commercial infrastructure required to successfully bring a new molecular diagnostic product to market.
The role will combine commercial strategy, go-to-market planning, business development and commercial operations. Working directly with the senior leadership team, the successful individual will help define target markets, customer segments, pricing, partnerships, sales processes and the wider commercial model.
This position would suit a senior commercial leader who has previously launched molecular diagnostic, oncology, IVD or precision-medicine products and is comfortable operating in a hands‑on fractional or consultancy capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the go-to-market strategy for a new molecular oncology product.
- Assess and prioritise target markets based on commercial opportunity, customer demand, regulatory considerations and reimbursement.
- Define priority customer segments and ideal customer profiles.
- Develop market-entry strategies across selected European and international markets.
- Build the commercial operating model required to support product launch and future growth.
- Establish sales processes, CRM structure, pipeline-management methodology, forecasting and commercial KPIs.
- Develop the overall value proposition, positioning and commercial messaging.
- Support pricing, reimbursement and market-access strategy.
- Identify potential barriers to adoption within clinical laboratories, pathology environments and healthcare systems.
- Develop relationships with senior stakeholders across molecular diagnostics, oncology and pathology.
- Identify and engage Key Opinion Leaders, early adopters and potential reference centres.
- Build relationships with potential laboratory, distribution and strategic commercial partners.
- Evaluate direct-sales, distributor and partnership models across priority markets.
- Identify and progress early-access, pilot and evaluation opportunities.
- Build an initial pipeline of prospective customers and strategic accounts ahead of wider commercialisation.
- Support the negotiation and development of strategic commercial agreements.
- Define the commercial resources and capabilities required as the organisation scales.
- Support the structure and recruitment of the future commercial team.
- Provide commercial insight into wider company and product strategy.
- Work closely with scientific, clinical and regulatory teams to ensure commercial strategy is aligned with product development and launch readiness.
- Provide clear commercial reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.

- The ability to combine high-level strategic thinking with hands‑on commercial execution.
- Experience across European and/or US markets would be highly valuable.
