Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior ML Engineer - Malware Detection to work remotely from the Netherlands. You will develop and deploy ML systems across large Linux hosting environments to detect web-based malware, leveraging real-world datasets and advanced models.

You will own end-to-end ML lifecycle, from data prep to production deployment, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and measurable cybersecurity impact.

Qualifications

• At least five years of production ML experience, including two+ years in adversarial domains such as cybersecurity.
• Practical transformer model expertise including LoRA/QLoRA, fine-tuning, distillation, and quantization.
• Strong background in classical ML, including gradient boosting and calibrated probabilities.
• Experience designing leakage-free splits by time and malware family.
• Ability to optimize throughput, latency, CPU and memory, with cost in mind.
• Strong Python, PyTorch, and Hugging Face skills; SQL for large datasets.
• Familiarity with PHP or JavaScript or willingness to learn for collaboration.
• Excellent written English for documentation and asynchronous collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, evaluation, and deployment of ML systems to improve malware detection at scale.
• Balance accuracy with operational costs and resource constraints across hosting fleets.
• Develop models to classify malware vs benign content and triage samples for detection engines.
• Build automation to generate detection signatures from emerging campaigns.
• Identify content requiring contextual analysis (phishing pages, webshells, etc.).
• Improve detection precision and cleanup effectiveness to prevent recurrences.
• Optimize model throughput, latency, CPU and memory usage for production.
• Move models from experimentation to production with controlled rollouts.
• Incorporate analyst feedback and retraining cycles based on detection trends.
• Create reusable training pipelines and manage GPU resources for parallel research.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and infrastructure teams on detections.
• Document architecture decisions, evaluation methods, and production results.
