Job summary

Acture is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails, Remote) to lead a team of 3–6 engineers, drive architectural decisions, and deliver features end-to-end. You will coach, interview candidates, review code, and shape the user experience with the VP Engineering, ensuring high quality through testing and QA within a flexible remote setup in the Netherlands and Germany.

Qualifications

• You have worked as a software engineer for at least 6 years, ideally with Staff Engineer level experience.
• You have strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL), MVC frameworks and TDD.
• You are experienced in technical interviewing, hiring, and onboarding engineers.
• You are fluent in English (C1+).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3-6 engineers and guide architectural decisions.
• Contribute hands-on to Acture platform with backend and frontend work.
• Hold 1-on-1s, provide feedback, and support engineer growth.
• Conduct technical interviews and onboard new engineers to the team.
• Review code, pair program, and ensure code quality and testing.
• Collaborate with VP Engineering to shape features and user experience.
