Job summary

Yuno is building cross-border payments data platform and infrastructure. We seek an Engineering Manager to lead a world‑class data team and shape both people strategy and technical direction in a fast‑moving, AI‑enabled environment.

You will mentor engineers, drive hiring, and define architecture for real‑time and batch pipelines while ensuring security and compliance in payments. This remote role offers Europe-wide opportunity with global impact.

Qualifications

• Experience leading data or software engineering teams with hiring and performance management.
• Strong ability to drive technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on background designing data pipelines, models, and platform architecture at scale.
• Proficiency in Python and/or SQL across modern data stacks.
• Understanding of streaming and batch architectures (Kafka, Spark, Flink, Airflow).
• Experience with cloud data infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and data tooling (dbt).
• Knowledge of data quality, observability, and governance.
• AI-first development mindset with experience using LLMs and AI tooling.
• Experience delivering in agile environments and clear English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a multidisciplinary data engineering team with ownership.
• Mentor engineers with coaching and clear career paths.
• Drive hiring to attract top data talent globally.
• Empower engineers to own delivery with autonomy and pace.
• Own lifecycle from ingestion to storage and observability.
• Contribute hands-on architecture design and code reviews.
• Set best practices for data modeling, testing, and quality.
• Guide architecture for high-throughput real-time and batch data systems.
• Ensure secure data handling per PCI-DSS, GDPR, and payments standards.
• Champion AI-first culture and AI-assisted workflows with LLMs.
• Collaborate with Product, Analytics, ML, Finance, and Compliance in an agile setup.
• Bridge the gap between data consumers and engineers.
• Evolve data infra for new markets and providers.
• Translate business goals into engineering plans and manage trade-offs.
