Position Summary

Join On Air’s expert product and engineering team in Baarn, The Netherlands, as a Smart TV & Mobile Application Developer driving the future of premium streaming across mobile and connected TV platforms. We’re looking for a highly skilled, solutions-oriented developer to help evolve and scale our cross-platform applications, including Android, iOS, Android/Google TV, tvOS, FireTV, and Web, as we set new standards in immersive concert streaming.

As we continue to evolve, we’re placing increased emphasis on AI-assisted software development - leveraging tools that streamline coding, automate repetitive tasks, and support faster iteration. While we’re early in this journey, we’re eager to grow with engineers who have a strong interest in using AI to enhance their development workflow. You’ll play a key role in shaping how these tools are explored, implemented, and optimized across the stack.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-moving product team working at the intersection of technology, entertainment, and innovation. Your contributions will directly impact how fans around the world access and engage with live, cinematic-quality performances.

Please note that for this position:

• We are unable to offer Visa Sponsorship, and candidates must already be residing in the Netherlands.
• This is a full-time, in-office position in Baarn, requiring presence five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop clean, scalable applications using TypeScript with React Native.
• Work within a cross-functional Scrum team to ship new features, improve performance, and enhance cross-platform user experience.
• Identify and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks across native and hybrid applications.
• Write and maintain automated tests with an openness to AI-assisted test generation and diagnostics.
• Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
• Explore and apply AI development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cline, CodeWhisperer) to accelerate implementation, improve code quality, and support documentation and testing efforts.
• Help evaluate and integrate emerging tools that support automation, AI-enhanced testing, and intelligent code documentation.

Skills and experience

• 5++ years of professional experience building mobile and smart TV applications.
• Familiarity with Java/Kotlin for Android and/or Swift for iOS/tvOS is a plus.
• React Native and TypeScript for multiplatform development.
• Familiarity with state management (e.g., Zustand, Redux), React hooks, and modular architectures for clean UI and data layers.
• Comfortable working with REST APIs, GraphQL
• Understanding of CI/CD workflows (e.g. Bitbucket Pipelines, Github actions).
• Interest in or experience with AI-assisted development workflows—whether through experimentation, personal projects, or early professional adoption.

The successful candidate

In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Familiarity with native modules, including TurboModules and the Fabric architecture for React Native.
• Ability to develop and maintain scalable, performant applications with clean code and modular structure.
• A genuine curiosity about how AI tools can improve software development, and a desire to help shape their practical use in our workflow.
• Experience with E2E testing tools such as Detox or Appium.
• Solid understanding of video player integration, media streaming protocols, and content formats (e.g., HLS, DASH, codecs).
