Job summary

QuantWare is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Quantum Hardware to design and develop critical hardware components for quantum processors, including packaging, shielding and sample holders. You will work on manufacturable designs and collaborate across design and measurement teams to meet form factor and integration goals.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in mechanical or hardware design with a track record of manufacturable designs.
• Experience with large temperature gradients, magnetic shielding, EM radiation protection, and/or thermalisation challenges is a strong plus.
• Proactive design approach: gathering requirements, sharing sketches and prototypes, and involving stakeholders.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
• Experience with prototyping like 3D printing and/or CNC machining.
• Experience with radiofrequency systems and/or PCBs is a differentiator.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and iterate sample holders, magnetic shielding, brackets, and other components for packaging, shielding and mounting quantum processors and amplifiers.
• Take ownership on projects: collect product requirements and translate into manufacturable designs.
• Document designs, technical drawings, and best practices for knowledge transfer and scaling.
• Select and manage suppliers, overseeing outsourced manufacturing, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
