Job summary

Wärtsilä, a global leader in marine and energy technologies, seeks a Design Engineer to reinforce propulsion controls and system engineering. You will lead a design team, deliver advanced control solutions, and ensure integration with existing interfaces.

Based in Drunen with a hybrid work model after onboarding, you will contribute to global projects, guide subcontractors, and participate in testing, commissioning, and cost estimation during the sales phase.

Qualifications

• Education: BSc or MSc in Industrial Automation or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years designing control systems in maritime or industrial automation.
• Strong hardware and software integration experience for propulsion systems.
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design engineering for advanced propulsion control systems.
• Oversee production subcontractors and ensure quality.
• Answer technical questions and provide customer guidance.
• Develop testing procedures and lead factory acceptance tests.
• Support sales with on-site surveys and technical specs.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to product development.
