Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Lead Engineer, Mechanical for the Thrusters PDM & Portfolio Maintenance team in Drunen, the Netherlands. You will oversee design integrity, lifecycle readiness and data-driven improvements across the global thruster portfolio, partnering with Product Development, Project Engineering, manufacturing and service teams.

In this role you will standardise workflows, drive automation using PLM/PDM tools, and mentor engineers while delivering high-quality product data,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical / Marine Engineering or related field.
Experience with 3D CAD (NX) and PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter).
Minimum 5–8 years in a comparable engineering/portfolio role.
Experience leading projects and teams within an international matrix organisation.
Experience in data visualization and dashboards.
Experience with programming or scripting (Python, VBA, Excel macros).
Strong communication in English.

Responsibilities

Maintain the mechanical design integrity and performance of the thruster portfolio.
Lead portfolio maintenance and ensure high-quality product data and configurations.
Collaborate with production locations and Technical Services to evaluate nonconformities and implement quality improvements.
Define project teams, plans, and follow-up.
Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and modularisation.
Publish and present technical findings to support decision-making.
