Job summary

Wärtsilä, based in Drunen, Netherlands, seeks a Design Engineer to lead propulsion control system design and integration across global projects. You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering advanced control and automation solutions and support the product portfolio development.

Employment offers exposure to retrofits and new integrations, with a hybrid work model after onboarding. The role requires 5+ years in maritime automation and a MSc/BSc in Industrial Automation or equivalent.

Qualifications

BSc or MSc in Industrial Automation or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years in designing control systems in the maritime industry or industrial automation.
Experience with propulsion control systems and integration with interfaces would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Design & Development: lead the design engineering team for advanced propulsion control systems.
Production supervision: oversee subcontractors during production ensuring quality.
Technical expertise: answer technical questions and provide specialized advice to customers.
Testing & Troubleshooting: develop and maintain testing procedures and perform Factory Acceptance Testing.
Sales support: conduct on-site surveys and provide technical specs and cost estimations.
Product development: contribute to continuous improvement of product portfolio.
Training & mentorship: mentor new engineers and train customers in propulsion control systems.
